Eggy launched The Final Tour (of 2026) with a new cover and several returns to the rotation on Thursday at Buffalo Iron Works in Buffalo, New York. The Connecticut quartet debuted Steve Miller Band’s “Wild Mountain Honey” during the first set and dusted off Little Feat’s “Willin’” to open the encore.
“Wild Mountain Honey” appeared on Steve Miller Band’s 1976 album Fly Like An Eagle. Written by Steve McCarty, the song arrived between “Burritos El Chavo 2” and the first-set finale, “Shallow Rivers.” Eggy’s debut version clocked in at nearly 11 minutes.
Eggy’s history with Steve Miller Band’s catalog stretches back years. On April 14 at The Commonwealth Room in Salt Lake City, the quartet revived “The Stake” for the first time since March 23, 2018, ending a 570-show gap.
The connection also helped inspire Eggy’s Halloween 2025 show. Speaking with JamBase aboard Jam Cruise 22 in February, keyboardist Dani Battat explained that the band noticed a resemblance between Denver’s blue Mustang sculpture, known as Blucifer, and the horse on the cover of Steve Miller Band’s Greatest Hits.
“We were like, ‘Oh, we should do something with this horse.’ We thought we were going to play Steve Miller Band tunes on Halloween actually, and then feel that urge to want to make something that was more original,” Battat recalled.
Instead, Eggy unveiled The Ballad Of Blucifer, a suite of 10 original songs performed with narration by Battat at Denver’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on October 31, 2025. Two songs from that suite, “Silver Steed (My Blue)” and “Reflections,” also appeared in Thursday’s Buffalo setlist.
The band opened with “One Stop Shop” before playing “Nearly Always Late” for the first time since March 13, a gap of 59 shows according to the nugs show notes. Guitarist Jake Brownstein worked a “Call To The Post” tease into the ensuing “Rosetta Stone,” with “Silver Steed (My Blue)” following ahead of “Burritos El Chavo 2” and the cover debut.
A nearly 24-minute “Through The Mist” began the second set and was left unfinished. “Way Of The Stone” and “Reflections” came next before “Last Of Kin” returned after 62 shows, last played on March 8. Eggy fit “Paper Bed” between two portions of “Last Of Kin” to finish the frame.
The night’s longest-awaited return came with “Willin’,” which Eggy hadn’t performed since December 9, 2023, a gap of 263 shows. “Smile” completed the two-song encore.
Eggy’s fall tour continues tonight at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom, followed by stops in Detroit on Saturday and Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday.
