Umphrey’s McGee & moe. Regain moe.mentUM With 3-Song Collaboration In Grand Rapids

Umphrey’s McGee and moe. reconnected on Wednesday to kick off the final leg of their moe.mentUM Tour in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The two bands’ concert at Frederik Meijer Amphitheater ended with a collaborative three-song encore.

moe. played first in Grand Rapids, serving up a seven-song performance. The sextet opened with “Downward Facing Dog” and then strung together the oft-paired “Jazz Wank,” “Spine Of A Dog” and “Buster.” A double dose of 2025’s Circle Of Giants album followed with “In Strade” and “Band In The Sky” before “Captain America” closed the set.

Umphrey’s McGee took the stage next to begin Ben Factor’s final weekend as the band’s lighting designer. Factor recently announced he is stepping away from the road after seven years and 500 shows behind the light board.

The Chicago-based band delivered a trio of well-jammed sequences to form their set. “Piranhas” gave way to “2nd Self” before “Hiccup” bled into a “Similar Skin” that landed on “Remind Me.” UM left “In The Kitchen” unfinished as they used the beginning of the song as a launching point for a “The Triple Wide” finale.

Umphrey’s debut performance of “Plane Crash” got the encore underway. Members of both bands played the moe. fan-favorite, with UM’s rhythm section of drummer Scotty Zwang and bassist Ryan Stasik sitting out.

moe. percussionist Jim Loughlin and guitarist Al Schnier stuck around to join Umphrey’s for their original song “Attachments.” The show concluded with a cover of Genesis’ “That’s All” featuring Umphrey’s McGee along with Loughlin, Schnier and moe. keyboardist Nate Wilson.

The moe.mentUM Tour rolls into Indianapolis tonight and Cleveland tomorrow. Umphrey’s and moe. will conclude their time on the road together on Saturday at Chicagoland venue Ravinia Festival.
