The Molotovs are a fast-rising young British rock trio formed in London in 2020, built around siblings Matt (vocals/guitar) and Issey (bass), with Noah on drums. From the beginning, their identity has been anchored in high-energy, stripped-down guitar rock influenced by The Clash, The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Ramones, and late-70s punk and new wave.

      Early Years & Rise (2020–2021)

Formed during the tail end of the lockdown era, The Molotovs started out by playing small outdoor “guerrilla” performances, street sets, and DIY shows across London. These early appearances earned them attention on social media for being teenagers playing like seasoned touring musicians, and their rapid technical improvement became part of the band’s story.

      Breakthrough Momentum (2021–2023)

As shows returned, The Molotovs quickly graduated from busking and pop-ups to supporting slots and club gigs at well-known London venues like the 100 Club, Dublin Castle, and Hope & Anchor. They also began attracting the attention of established musicians—members of Glen Matlock’s band, The Libertines, and artists on the London indie circuit started sharing their clips and praising their energy.

By 2022–2023, The Molotovs were opening for larger acts, playing small festivals, and receiving coverage in UK indie media, with write-ups describing them as one of the youngest and hardest-working new rock bands in London.

      Developing Sound & Releases (2023–2024)

The band continued writing and recording original material, releasing singles like “Talk of the Town,” “No More Crying,” “Once Upon a Time,” and building a catalogue that blends post-punk sharpness with Brit-rock hooks. They’ve been described by reviewers as a three-piece with classic rock energy filtered through Gen-Z urgency.

During this period, they started drawing bigger crowds, and their live clips regularly circulated on TikTok and Instagram thanks to tight playing and charismatic performances.

      Where They Are Now (2024–2025)

Today, The Molotovs are considered one of the most promising young rock acts in the UK. They continue to tour heavily—with festivals, indie-club headline slots, and opening appearances for established artists—and are steadily expanding beyond London. Their audience includes both older rock fans drawn to the revivalist energy and younger listeners who see them as part of a new wave of guitar-band resurgence.

They’re currently building toward a larger project (EP/album cycle), strengthening their presence on the UK live circuit, and positioning themselves for broader European exposure. The general consensus in the indie press is that The Molotovs are a “band to watch” during the next phase of British rock, thanks to their work ethic, musicianship, and rapidly improving songwriting.
