Musixmatch has launched Musicathon 2026, a global remote competition for developers, music industry professionals, students and hobbyists interested in the intersection of music and technology. JamBase is among Musicathon’s technology partners, helping to power the challenge with JamBase Data.
Running through June 21, the competition invites participants to build new projects using Musixmatch Pro APIs along with partner tools and data from across the music ecosystem. Along with JamBase Data, other Musicathon partners include Cyanite, ElevenLabs, Replit, Songstats, LALAL.AI and n8n. Over $25,000 in prizes is up for grabs, including $5,000 in cash.
JamBase Data gives builders a live music layer they can use to create apps, discovery tools and fan-facing experiences around tours, venues, artists and event intelligence. The dataset includes nearly 5 million live performances, over 600,000 artists, 90,000 venues, and 20,000 festivals from over 60 sources.
Musicathon participants can access the Partner Guide for instructions on using JamBase Data’s events search and artist and venue catalogs to power their ideas. Anyone interested in trying JamBase Data can sign up at data.jambase.com for a free 14-day trial.
Musixmatch is a lyrics and music-data company that works with publishers and songwriters to deliver authorized lyrics and related information across major streaming and social platforms. It also uses its catalog and technology to generate insights into how music is consumed and discovered.
Musicathon entrants must submit their projects, including a demo and brief writeup, before the June 21 deadline. A jury of music industry and technology professionals, including JamBase CEO and co-founder Andy Gadiel, will select the winners (view contest rules here).
