Listen to Alex G’s New Song With the Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan

Back in February, Alex G announced that he would reunite with American horror auteur Jane Schoenbrun to score her next film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Now, he has shared the first taste of that soundtrack, which arrives in full on August 21: a new song with the Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan, “Pain Is the Heart of Love.” Listen to it below.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is Alex Giannascoli’s third collaboration with Schoenbrun—he also scored 2022’s We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and 2024’s I Saw the TV Glow. The new film follows a young director (Hannah Einbinder) who, in the process of rebooting a classic horror franchise, connects with the reclusive actress (Gillian Anderson) who played the series’ final girl. The tracklist also features songs from R.E.M., Sally Shapiro, Donna Lewis, and Okay Kaya.

Elsewhere recently, Alex G co-produced Phoebe Bridgers’ third album Lost Weekend, wrapped up a North American tour, and released two new songs on his personal YouTube channel. Although Paul Buchanan has been scarce since releasing his 2012 solo album, Mid Air, he appeared on a Jessie Ware song in 2017 and a Quiet City track in 2021.

Revisit our review of Alex G’s score for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair.
