Aerosmith will return to the stage more than two years after retiring from touring, joined by an extensive roster of guests at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The band confirmed California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends concerts on October 29 and November 1, with The Black Crowes, Run-DMC and Heart among the participants.
The announcement follows teaser videos featuring frontman Steven Tyler putting the dates and Aerosmith & Friends billing on the venue’s marquee. The two shows will celebrate the band’s catalog, with Don Was serving as music director.
Aerosmith’s Peace Out farewell tour ended after just three concerts when Tyler fractured his larynx during the September 9, 2023 show in Elmont, New York. The band postponed and rescheduled the tour before canceling the remaining dates and announcing its retirement from touring in August 2024, stating that a full recovery from Tyler’s vocal injury was not possible. The Hollywood Bowl announcement confirms two return performances without outlining a broader tour.
The guest roster also includes Billy Idol, Eric Church, Sammy Hagar, Slash, Duff McKagan, Tom Morello and Marcus King. Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez of Alice In Chains are aboard, as are Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Train frontman Pat Monahan and Godsmack frontman Sully Erna.
Andrew Watt, Steve Stevens, Adam Wakeman, Audley Freed and Kenny Aronoff round out the initial announcement. Additional artists and surprise appearances are planned. Guests will vary by night, with final nightly lineups announced at or near showtime and subject to change.
A Citi cardmember presale begins Thursday, October 8 at 10 a.m. PT and ends Friday, October 9 at 10 a.m. PT. Additional presales will precede the general on-sale on Saturday, October 10 at 10 a.m. PT.
