Mitski swung by the Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday for her first appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in nearly a decade. The singer-songwriter delivered a stirring performance of “I’ll Change For You” on the CBS late-night television program.
Charming ballad “I’ll Change For You” is the latest single from Mitski’s soon to be released eighth studio album, Nothing’s About To Happen To Me. The 11-song collection is due out this Friday, February 27 on Dead Oceans.
Produced and engineered by Patrick Hyland, all the songs on Nothing’s About To Happen To Me were written and sung by Mitski. She enlisted her touring band to provide live instrumentation and an orchestra to give each track a symphonic feel.
Mitski was backed by her full band for her return to Colbert. The “I’ll Change For You” performance was a live preview of a string of international tour dates that begins next week.
