Before embarking on their Ice Cream Floats cruise festival at sea, Modest Mouse held the first of two shows at ZeyZey in Miami on Tuesday night. Fittingly, the band opened the concert with their first live public performance of “March Into The Sea.”
Along with opening the Miami concert, “March Into The Sea” served as the opening track to Modest Mouse’s fifth album, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which was released in 2007. The band will perform at ZeyZey again tonight and then go aboard the Ice Cream Floats cruise ship along with Kurt Vile & The Violators, Built to Spill, Portugal. The Man and others.
Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock’s side group, Ugly Casanova, is also on the Ice Cream Floats lineup. “Barnacles” and “Things I Don’t Remember” from Ugly Casanova’s only album to date, 2002’s Sharpen Your Teeth, were both performed by Modest Mouse in Miami last night.
