Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams is set to release a new studio album, World’s Gone Wrong, this Friday (January 23) through Highway 20 Records. Williams and an impressive backing band performed the record’s title track, “The World’s Gone Wrong,” on last night’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
World’s Gone Wrong serves as the follow-up to Williams’ 2023 album Stories From A Rock n Roll Heart. Co-produced by Williams’ husband, Tom Overby, and her frequent collaborator, Ray Kennedy, the 10-song LP was recorded at Kennedy’s Room & Board Studio in Nashville.
Fellow singer-songwriter Brittney Spencer, who appears on the studio version of “The World’s Gone Wrong,” accompanied Williams for The Late Show performance. Joining them on the Ed Sullivan Theater stage was keyboardist Peter Levin, bassist David Sutton, drummer Brady Blade and guitarists Doug Pettibone and Marc Ford.
