Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley (6 Feb 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and guitarist who became the global ambassador of reggae music. Born in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica, Marley rose from rural beginnings to transform the worlds of music and culture. With his band The Wailers, he fused reggae, ska and rocksteady, and crafted timeless songs—such as No Woman, No Cry, Redemption Song, Get Up Stand Up—that remain influential.
Marley also became a voice for peace, spiritual unity and social change, his legacy living strongly beyond his early death at age 36.
