“Somos Como Tú” appears on the duo’s forthcoming album OurHome, arriving Friday.

Rodrigo y Gabriela spent more than two decades letting their guitars do the talking. The duo finally added lyrics and vocals to the mix for the first time on their new single, “Somos Como Tú.”
Rodrigo Sánchez handles lead vocals on the track while Gabriela Quintero answers with her own rapid-fire vocal part. The pair are joined by hand percussion and a group of local fans providing gang vocals.
Sánchez originally wrote “Somos Como Tú,” which translates to “We Are Like You,” while living in Paris in 2015. The song addresses migration, displacement and the common humanity shared by people searching for somewhere to belong.
“I wrote that song when I was living in Paris in 2015 and always loved it, but for some reason we could never come up with a version that sounded like us,” Sánchez stated. “We decided to try again for this album, and it turned into something that felt very powerful and honest, and even more relevant than it was 10 years ago.”
“Somos Como Tú” appears on Rodrigo y Gabriela’s new album, OurHome, arriving Friday, September 18 via ATO Records. As previously reported, the duo recorded the follow-up to 2023’s In Between Thoughts…A New World in Japan at NK Sound Tokyo. The 11-track record also features appearances from Hiromi, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, cellist Hiyori Okuda and guitarist Yukihiro Atsumi.
The duo begins a North American tour supporting OurHome on September 30 in Dallas. Stream “Somos Como Tú” and watch the accompanying video below:
