King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s new album Alien Metal is coming into focus with the new single “Kill For The Steel.” The band’s 28th studio effort is expected to arrive soon through the band’s p(doom) Records.
Alien Metal sees King Gizzard fully immersing themselves in their Eurorack modular synth setup, named Nathan by the band.
“It completely rewired my brain,” the band’s Stu Mackenzie said of making music with Nathan. “I was like, ‘I’m going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch.’”
Stu added: “We’ve never scrapped so much material as we have for this album. Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated, created, recorded, deleted and started again.”
KGLW previously shared two of the compositions that made the cut for Alien Metal, “Level 5” and the title track. Now, just days ahead of King Gizzard’s Colorado festival Field of Vision, the band shares “Kill For The Steel,” continuing their journey through techno, hardcore, house and jungle influences.
The fourth track off Alien Metal is narrated by seemingly metal hungry extraterrestrials who sing: “We don’t wish any bad luck or any ill will… but we will kill for the steel.”
