Each year, the daylong Sound Summit festival is held atop Mount Tamalpais at the historic Mountain Theater in Mill Valley, California. The event returns Saturday, September 12 with a lineup headlined by Father John Misty, who will perform with his full band.

Sound Summit 2026 will also host performances by Guster, Jerry Harrison and his 50 Years of Talking Heads project, La Luz and Angeline Saris & The Snack Machine. Harrison is a co-founder of Talking Heads.

The 4,000-seat Mountain Theater hosts the festival, which is produced annually by Roots & Branches Conservancy. Sound Summit has raised more than $300,000 over the past decade for Mount Tamalpais State Park. The funds support trail restoration, historic preservation, fire prevention, water conservation, visitor services, emergency preparedness and other park initiatives.

Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey (longtime KNBR radio duo known as Murph & Mac from 2006 to 2023) and Tim Lynch, host of KPFA’s Dead to the World, will continue their perennial role as emcees. Vetiver’s Andy Cabic has been tapped as the all-day DJ to spin tunes and set the vibe between sets.

Sound Summit 2026 tickets go on sale Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. PT. Reserved Mountain Parking passes will also be available as well as the option to reserve a spot on a round-trip shuttle from Mill Valley.
